Canelo Alvarez hits middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin with a right to the body during their fight Saturday, September 15, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena. Alvarez won the second meeting of the two middleweights to take the title.

Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs will meet May 4 in a middleweight title unification fight in Las Vegas.

Promoters announced today that Alvarez, the Mexican star who beat Gennady Golovkin in September, will fight Jacobs in a scheduled 12-round fight at the T-Mobile Arena to unify most of the major middleweight titles. The fight will be aired on the streaming service DAZN, which recently signed Alvarez to a long-term deal.

Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 knockouts) is returning to the middleweight division after stepping up in weight Dec.15 to stop Rocky Fielding in a 168-pound title bout. He traditionally fights in Las Vegas over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, and this will be his fifth fight in the Strip arena that is home to the Golden Knights hockey team.

Jacobs, who lost a narrow decision to Golovkin in 2017, has won all three of his fights since, including a split decision in October over Sergiy Derevyanchenko for a vacant piece of the 160-pound title. Jacobs, who lives in Brooklyn, is 35-2 with 29 knockouts.
