I am a retired U.S. Marine who served 22 years and I am experienced in force protection. Yes, barriers are an important part of security, and built properly, in the correct locations, they create choke points that route incoming forces elsewhere. In locations where barriers are not feasible, technology is used (motion sensors, cameras, drones, etc.). Nothing is 100 percent effective, but doing nothing along most of the border has not worked.
This entire situation is the Democrats ignoring their own words and politics from four years ago just to defy President Donald Trump. The average American wants safety and security.
