Police: Man shot in southeast valley; woman, 22, in custody

A shooting this morning at a southeast valley house landed a man in the hospital and a woman in jail, according to Metro Police.

The victim, who was shot in his lower body, was in stable condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, Officer Jay Rivera said. His name was not released.

The shooting occurred about 6:10 a.m. in the 3000 block of Painted Hills Avenue, near McLeod Drive and Russell Road, Rivera said.

The suspect, Lonyae Thompson, 22, who had been in an relationship with the man, walked away after the shooting and was taken into custody about a quarter mile from the house, Rivera said.

She was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, authorities said.
