Fire destroys large outbuilding in north valley

A fire today at a large outbuilding in the north valley produced a column of smoke that could be seen across the valley, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.

Las Vegas and North Las Vegas firefighters responded about noon to Elkhorn and Sisk roads, where they found the concrete block building fully involved in flames, officials said. It took about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control, officials said.

The fire did not spread to any other structures, officials said.

Nobody was injured, but the building, located on an island of property in unincorporated Clark County, was a total loss, officials said. A damage estimate was not available.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
