A 48-year-old former Las Vegas fire captain has been sentenced to five years' probation for paying a teenage girl $300 to have sex with him inside a fire station.

Richard Loughry also was ordered Monday to register as a sex offender after pleading an equivalent of no contest in March to attempted statutory sexual seduction and soliciting prostitution.

Loughry was a firefighter for almost 20 years. He resigned after his arrest.

Police and prosecutors say he contacted the girl in February 2017 through an online advertisement that said she was 22, although she was 15 at the time.

She told police they had sex in a fire station room labeled "captains dorm."
