Bishop Gorman players are pictured during the Las Vegas Sun’s high school football media day at the Red Rock Resort on July 24, 2019. They include, from left, Bryan Certain, Micah Bowens and Rome Odunze.

Ikaika Ragsdale had two rushing touchdowns today for the Bishop Gorman football team and the Gaels posted their third consecutive shutout in a 56-0 victory against host Spring Valley.

Gorman has four shutouts in five leagues games, outscoring opponents 244-6. The defense, led by the likes of seniors Lincoln Tuioti-Mariner, Bryan Certain and Connor Fryar, have only surrendered one rushing touchdown all season — an impressive feat considering the 10-time defending state champions opened the season with four nationally respected opponents.

“That side of the ball has been playing lights out all year,” Gorman coach Kenny Sanchez said. “They are doing what they should be doing.”

The defense also produced points against Spring Valley on Mark Person’s fumble return for a touchdown.

Jadyn Ott and Micah Bowens added rushing touchdowns for the Gaels, and Rome Odunze also scored.

Gorman closes the regular season next week against Clark. In two weeks, the Gaels host Coronado in the Desert Region quarterfinals.
