Majae Madison carried the ball 18 times for 157 yards and a touchdown tonight for the Cheyenne football team in a 32-8 victory against host Del Sol.

The game was tied at 8-all in the third quarter before Cheyenne closed the game with 24 unanswered points to win the 3A Sunset League championship.

“My kids did their job tonight and did it well,” Cheyenne coach Patrick Ward said. “Anytime you hold Del Sol, who was averaging 40 points per game, to eight points, that’s a great job.”

Devonte Armstrong connected on touchdown passes to Rayvion Brown and De’kauri Hawkins, and Jason Black rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Cheyenne receives a bye next week, before hosting a state quarterfinal game in two weeks.
