Latroy Howard caught a touchdown pass from My’quel Johnson in the final seconds Thursday for the Clark High football team in a 49-48 victory against Desert Oasis.

“Whoever had the ball last was going to win the game,” Clark assistant coach Deumaine Reeder said.

And that was Clark, who got the ball with about 40 seconds to play and trailing by six points at its 35-yard line. Then Johnson and Howard hooked up for a long pass to bring the ball inside the Desert Oasis 10, and the duo connected once against to even the game at 48-all. Abel Ayalew had the extra point for the win, giving Clark a spot in the playoffs in two weeks.

“For the seniors to go out on top, it’s a blessing,” Reeder said.
