We’re on the run this weekend — the Geico Rock ’n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half-Marathon takes over the Strip on Sunday. I’m not expecting to see the TV gecko running 26 miles, but with the insurance company as headline sponsor, its image will be everywhere.

We’re making music this Thursday in the Entertainment Capital of the World: Silver-haired singer Jack Jones has recorded a new 13-track CD honoring the upcoming 100th birthday of Frank Sinatra. Jack flew to Las Vegas to debut “Seriously Frank” at Bootlegger Bistro.

Liverpool lass Rachel Tyler arrived having been here only once before for a wedding. Now her name is up in lights as the Strip’s newest singing star. I saw her in “Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers” last weekend, and she had the audience giddy with the phenomenal strength of her voice.

There’s been a slight improvement in Celine Dion’s husband Rene Angelil’s health in his battle against throat cancer. I’m reliably told that Rene has been able to get out of his hospital bed at home in Lake Las Vegas and has begun walking around again.
