Guitar great and world-renowned artist Carlos Santana is rejuvenated by his reunion with Marcus “The Magnificent” Malone, new dates at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay and a pair of new albums, including "Santana IV," planned for this year.

Latin rock band Santana returns tonight to begin its second session as resident headliner at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Santana and his band eschew costumes for their show at The Joint at the Hard Rock, and the only dancers are in the seats. The show includes some ramblings by Santana as well music from 40 years.

Carlos Santana is not the only superstar who will have a steady headlining gig at The Joint at the Hard Rock. AEG Live, the mega-entertainment company that put together the rotating star system at the Colosseum, is actively looking for one or two more headliners to join Santana in the same vein as Cher, Bette Midler and Elton John at Caesars Palace.

Carlos Santana really could make this “residency” thing work. After seeing Carlos and Co. blow through an almost two-hour set Thursday night that left me wanting more, Santana seemed an inspired choice for the first extended residency at the new Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
