The news broke Friday morning while the Cleveland Cavaliers were at shoot around preparing for their NBA Summer League debut against the Milwaukee Bucks in Cox Pavilion. ...
With all of the excitement surrounding LeBron James’ not-so-secret meeting at the Wynn on Wednesday in between his stops at the camp bearing his name at the Cashman Center, it was possible to forget one of the other things that makes Las Vegas the center of the basketball world in July.
This always seemed like a possibility when the decisions were made, but going undrafted is certainly not what UNLV's Khem Birch and Roscoe Smith had in mind when they left school a year early.
Two years ago, Mike Moser was Khem Birch. Both players had big decisions to make after their third season out of high school. Moser, who had just had a breakout season at UNLV, elected to return to school. Birch decided ...
Findlay Prep didn’t have to go outside its offices to find its next head coach. Associate head coach Andy Johnson, who’s been with the program the past five years, has been promoted to the staff’s top spot, the Henderson International School announced Tuesday evening.
The lack of available players finally took its toll late in the game. The Henderson-based Pilots simply ran out of energy, squandering a 14-point third-quarter lead in a season-ending 64-56 defeat.
Findlay Prep players Kelly Oubre and Rashad Vaughn were among the 24 high school seniors selected today to participate in the 2014 McDonald’s All-American game.
They were supposed to be the Bishop Gorman High basketball team’s new “Big Three.” After the Gaels graduated a trio of top-100 recruits two seasons ago, 2015 classmates Nick Blair, Chase Jeter and Stephen Zimmerman were expected to emerge as the Nevada power’s new threesome of elite players. Jeter and Zimmerman have lived up the billing, becoming five-star recruiting prospects and two of the best players on the court each game. Blair clearly is a step behind. But that’s starting to change this season with the 6-foot-5 wing cracking the starting lineup and showing off his off-the-charts athleticism. It’s because ...
Bishop Gorman High’s Noah Robotham buried a 3-pointer from the corner, quickly hustling back on defense and not realizing the significance of his shot. In a game of big plays, blue-chip recruiting prospects and much anticipation, it was Robotham — then a freshman — with one of the most memorable plays. He just didn’t realize how crucial his shot was, which tied the game against Findlay Prep at 83 with seconds remaining in double overtime at the sold-out Cox Pavilion during the 2011 rivalry game between the nationally respected local programs.
Two verbal commits to the UNLV basketball team and nine Las Vegas area athletes are part of The Ultimate 100 from Scout.com, which was released Monday and ranks the nation’s top 100 high school basketball players regardless of graduation year.
Findlay Prep guard Rashad Vaughn will take an official visit to UNLV on Nov. 25-26, according to his mentor Pete Kaffey. Vaughn is a five-star shooting guard in the class of 2014.
Rashad Vaughn isn’t open, but still able to score. That's one of the reasons why the Findlay Prep senior guard is a consensus top-10 recruiting prospect.
Despite operating under its third head coach in three seasons, things couldn’t have been more business as usual at Findlay Prep practice Wednesday night.
