With his team trending downward, Desert Oasis coach Scott Staudinger opted to focus on the positives rather than the negatives when it concerned his team’s four-game losing skid. “We had to keep their confidence,” he said. “They’re doing a lot of things well, but we just weren’t making the plays we needed to.” Things were different against Bonanza. The Diamondbacks made enough plays, and were able to pick up a 42-35 victory over the Bengals in a back-and-forth affair.

Iquan Corsey passed for 107 yards and three touchdowns today for the Desert Pines High football team in a 40-14 victory against visiting Bonanza. Desert Pines led by just eight points at halftime, but outscored Bonanza 18-0 in the second half in winning for the fourth straight time to open the season.

Jayveon Taylor, Carlos Soto could rack up the yards on offense
The Bonanza football players didn’t need to speak. Their reactions said everything. After the school hired Kevin Volcic to fill its coaching vacancy this offseason, he met with his new team to outline his plans going forward. One of the key topics was the offense, where Volcic announced he would ditch the run between the tackles at all costs approach that the Bengals used last year.
