The Rebels led by five with 50 seconds left and then managed to squander the lead they had worked so hard to get and lost 66-65 at Colorado State tonight. UNLV is now 9-6 overall and 0-2 in Mountain West play.

Fresno State's Torren Jones scored the go-ahead points on an offensive rebound and helped the Bulldogs complete the upset victory to put UNLV in an 0-1 hole to start Mountain West play. The Rebels committed 21 turnovers, which led to 31 Bulldog points.

The Mountain West’s nonconference season has basically been the college basketball equivalent of finding a big lump of coal in your stocking. You could always hope it turns into something better, but it probably won’t.
