  1. So everytime it snows or we have a blizzard then global warming is a crock. Good to know!

  2. If global warming is real then why are they still have snow in Reno and Las Vegas has had its mildest summer in years. I have been in this town all my life and have NEVER seen 90s in July.
Besides this is just another this the dems and Al Gore want to scare you with. If you use your brain and read back through history the Earth heats up for a decade then it cools for a decade we are in the heating decade. So get over it. There will be an ice age in a few years and the dems will still say why is it so hot.

  3. Racer, your ignorance is showing. You don't know the difference between weather and climate. And it is snowing way more in winter because there is way more moisture in the air. Why is there more moisture in the air? Because the atmosphere has heated up and is drawing more water from the oceans. Just because it still gets cold in the winter doesn't mean the earth is not warming. It is because of ignorant republicans like you (Yes, I know you are a republican) we cannot solve this problem before it gets too late--if it's not too late already. Again, you don't know the difference between weather and climate. But then ignorance is bliss, right?

  4. Okay Brain teach me. Take me back to the second grade and help me learn. Because obviously I'm just a stupid ignorant republican that has an I.Q. of 0 right. I know the difference between the two but I did agree with the global warming thing with this decade. But HISTORY NOT POLITICS shows that the Earth heats up and then cools down.
If you don't understand something I post ask its that simple.

  5. racer56: Global warming is global and long-term. It isn't always easy to tell from one decade to the next in one place. But the longer the timescale and the larger the geographic scale, the more obvious it is. Though it will also become obvious in many places as southern vegetation, animals, and bugs keep moving northward...

Anyway: on the heating up and cooling down: we haven't had much cooling in the last 100 years: http://www.woodfortrees.org/plot/gistemp...

There's pretty good basic science that tells us that more greenhouse gases mean more warming - the first guy to make calculations showing that more CO2 would mean global warming was Svante Arrhenius back in 1896, but it took until the late 1970s before the science was solid enough to really bank on - many people cite the 1979 Charney Report by the US National Academy of Sciences as a key document (http://www.atmos.ucla.edu/~brianpm/charn...).

As you can see from the first graph, since 1979 things have just been getting warmer, and everything from Arctic sea ice to glaciers to sea level to water temperatures shows the same thing: see this NOAA page on climate indicators: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/bams-state-of-t...

Is that a good start for you?

(and before you bring up the ice ages: yes, things can warm up and cool down without humans being involved. But they don't do it for the heck of it. Glacial advance and retreat has been associated with Earth's orbital mechanics - see the Milankovitch Cycle. Volcanoes can also cool things down for a year or two - see Pinatubo, El Chichon, etc. El Nino can warm things up for a year (among many other changes) - see 1998. But for the last half century, the only thing that has been consistently pointed in the "warm" direction have been greenhouse gases, with most other things from the sun's intensity to volcanoes pointed towards cooling - and yet, we keep getting warmer, because there are enough greenhouse gases to overwhelm everything else.)

  6. 2M, Thanks for the info. and I agree but I still see that we might encounter a drastic cool down in the coming years.
