Mrs. Robert E. Lacy of St. Louis pauses with a look of stunned horror in St. Louis, July 1, 1956 after receiving word that a TWA airliner on which her half sister, Bessie Whitman of San Francisco, was traveling for a visit. The plane's wreckage was found later in the Grand Canyon. Mrs. Lacy and friends were awaiting the plane's arrival at the St. Louis Municipal Airport. "I feel like I'm going to faint", she said. Mrs. Lacy was helped to a rear office at the airport before going home.
