The Kats Report Podcast

“The Kats Report” is an entertainment radio show hosted by John Katsilometes, columnist and editor-at-large for Greenspun Media Group. The half-hour show airs weekly on KUNV 91.5 FM at 8 p.m. Fridays. Kats interviews the top Las Vegas celebrities, performers and executives in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Kats Report Radio Show — A Sudden Reign: Tue, May 3, 2016 (11:53 a.m.); Jason Tenner has been the front man for the Prince tribute band Purple Reign since the late-1990s, performing at several Las Vegas clubs and lounges. His world turned upside down on the morning of April 21, when Prince died and the attention on Purple Reign’s show at Westgate Cabaret erupted. The show has since moved into the larger International Theater at Westgate Cabaret, and Tenner talks of what the artist’s death meant to him and the act.

Kats Report Radio Show — Clint Holmes: Tue, Apr 19, 2016 (5:44 p.m.); Clint Holmes reunites with Santa Fe. The resident headliner at Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center recalls his days at Harrah’s, from 2000-2006. His backing band in those days was Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns, and he reunites with Jerry Lopez and “the guys” on Saturday night at M Resort.

Kats Report Radio Show — Rita Rudner: Mon, Mar 28, 2016 (3:08 p.m.); Comedian Rita Rudner, who performs starting in April at Red Rock Resort, stops by to chat with Kats about her history in Las Vegas, which dates to Riviera and includes a famous run at New York-New York (where the rumblings of the Manhattan Express roller-coaster needed to be muted so she could perform uninterrupted).

Kats Report Radio Show — Larry Blackmon from Cameo: Fri, Mar 18, 2016 (10:42 a.m.); Larry Blackmon, frontman for Cameo, stops by to talk about his group's 40th anniversary, their show at Westgate Cabaret and that famous/infamous red codpiece.

Kats Report Radio Show — Scinta City: Mon, Feb 29, 2016 (8:15 p.m.); Since arriving in Las Vegas from Buffalo in 2000, the family act The Scintas has become a popular locals draw at a variety of resort casinos. Their latest home is downtown at the Plaza Showroom, and the leader of the show, Frankie Scinta, talks of the upgrades to the act and the venue -- and also how he got his start as a child on "The Ted Mack Amateur Hour."

The Kats Report Podcast — Return of “Alice:”: Mon, Feb 22, 2016 (2:02 p.m.); Kats’ guests this week are the co-leads of “Alice – A Steampunk Concert Fantasy,” Anne Martinez and Ashley Fuller. The show features a host of backing dancers, a live band and a Red Queen character all in original costumes performing to contemporary rock songs. The production is a rock and steampunk adaptation of the story Lewis Carrol story "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” and the show returns to Brooklyn Bowl at 10 p.m. Feb. 24.

Managing Britney: Thu, Feb 11, 2016 (2:30 p.m.); Larry Rudolph met Britney Spears when she was a teenager just finishing her stint on “The Mickey Mouse Club.” He helped turn her into an international superstar and one of the most bankable stars on the Strip. He talks of the updates planned for “A Piece of Me,” her upcoming album and why he made Vegas his home

The Good Doctor: Wed, Feb 10, 2016 (10:26 a.m.); Dr. Alex Schiller is the character at the center of “Never Sleep Alone,” a stage show at the Spiegeltent at Caesars Palace. The satire of a sexual advice seminar mixed with a one-woman performance draws audience members onstage for some ribald interaction. The show ends its three-performance run on Valentine’s Day. Does it have a home in Vegas? The good doctor is always optimistic.

What’s next for Zowie Bowie: Sat, Jan 30, 2016 (8:54 a.m.); This week, John Katsilometes talks with Zowie Bowie’s Chris Phillips, who abruptly ended his decade long run at Rocks Lounge to develop a new, more “produced” show. What is the plan, and where does Phillips plan to pitch this production?
