They are just another distraction that people operating a vehicle don't need.
Sounds like an opportunity for a revenue enhancement for the state. However, I would prefer they be banned under cruising laws.
They were banned in NY in a NY minute. Most East Coast cities ban them, too. This is a no-brainer, but with all our rampant corruption, it probably comes down to pay to play. And we all know what happens then-"Thank you very much for your political contribution." Right, Erin and Rick and Michael and Dario and Mary K? And on and on...
There are legitimate companies out here in vegas with mobile billboards. By banning them we will lose hundreds of jobs that we need right now.
I am sure that the minor distraction while sitting in traffic will not affect the operation of a vehicle. If cell phones are not distacting than why would a billboard be? They are much more attractive than regular billboards. I mean with all of the flashing lights on the strip it only seems right to have more attractive billboards. Maybe we should take radios and cd players out of vehicles so that you won't be distracted changing songs. I think you get the point.
In times like these I can't believe they are considering closing down a respectful business that is creating jobs and helping the economy. This is an effective way to advertise and is good for businesses and certainly not any more distracting than billboards on the side of the road or other signs.
The reason the mobile signs for escort service agencies should be banned is because all they do is upsell and rip off guys looking for some physical companionship. They give Vegas a bad name because they cheat male tourists. Losing money playing craps is one thing. Having some little bitch lie to you is just high school all over again.
Honest prostitutes are good for Vegas. Dishonest rip off artists make Vegas lose repeat visitors.
It's vegas people. live and let live....
The vast majority of the mobile billboard businesses are contributing, responsible members of the community. Wipe out taxpaying employers & revenue generators in our Southern Nevada economy these days? No thank you! Let us save our time, taxpayer dollars & political forums for issues of dire consequence, not for pulling the rug out on HUNDREDS of employees in a legitimate industry.
They're just another source of pollution. I'd say let them operate if they provided free shuttle service for pedestrians or something. I mean, isn't a bus/monorail enough of a rolling billboard?
FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Yes, they should remain on the streets of Las Vegas! Plus, who is going to pay for all of the unemployed advertising professionals, graphic designers, truck Drivers, and who is going to buy up these vehicles if they are taken off the streets? Who will make up for the lost revenue to the state for the DMV income generated by registration of these vehicles? What's next, magazines that showcase "sexy" actors on the covers? Magazine racks in grocery stores/ convenient stores/ book stores? Television advertising? Slippery Slope; where will it end?? Parents worried about their kids seeing these billboards should blindfold their kids in the car, or turn on their DVD Players in the back seat. Trust me, these kids aren't seeing or paying attention to anything other than the DVD screen.
