Thirty Democrats could settle their party's grueling presidential nomination contest in a Washington, D.C., hotel room this Saturday, according to this report from the Hill, a Washington newspaper.
Among the elite few who will be in the room: Former Clark County Commissioner Yvonne Atkinson Gates.
Although she resigned from the commission last year amid a police investigation into her campaign spending -- one that has resulted in no charges -- she remains a player on the Democratic National Committee.
As a member of the committee's 30-member Rules and Bylaws Committee, Atkinson Gates could help put to rest the agonizing race between Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama to secure their party's nomination.
The rules committee is to decide the fate of Florida and Michigan, states that bucked the DNC's rules and moved the dates of their primaries forward despite warnings from the national party that their delegates would not count.
The decision by Atkinson Gates and her 29 colleagues about how to factor in results from Florida and Michigan if at all could have a huge impact on the contest, as detailed in the Hill article.
Atkinson Gates has been mum about which candidate she supports and did not return a phone call today from the Sun.

It's a sad day for Democracy when the likes of her is in such a position.
YAG is a superdelegate as well, if I remember NPR correctly. More of the "smoky back room" politics which run the D-party.
Florida and Michigan are and should be off the books. Their state election commissions (ims) hosed their own Democrats, all the candidates agreed on this and signed documents confirming that. It's just the desperation and hypocrisy of HRC that is having this be an issue at all.
Disgusting.....
Hussien has a friend in Gates.
He is from the south side of Chicago.
Enough said............
Barrack Hussien Mohammad Obama Is the name of our next President if he gets the nomination!
Casino Kid - If the name of our next president is Barack Hussein Obama, then our founding fathers were right, and it IS possible to create a democracy in which every human being is equal. I hope you are a kid, and have some time to grow into new ideas. The world is a bigger and more beautiful place than you imagine.
Well said LKM.
