Letter to the editor:
In one sense, Obama keeps to his theme
Tue, Jul 1, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
When Barack Obama selected “change” as his campaign slogan, I thought he was talking about our nation. Little did I realize that “change” actually refers to his own political positions.

Yes. Thank God McCain has never, ever done this, even within the past year. Thank God for that.
Yes, but unlike Barack Obama, the Arizona senator has not made "change" the MAIN and most important theme of HIS campaign!
McCain is the KING of double talk.

News1950,
Then it was somebody other than McCain who took the slogan "Change You Deserve."
Of course, if you want to stand behind McCain as the candidate who promises four more years of what we've gotten during the last eight, we Democrats are more than happy to let you do that.
JohnF - I'll create a slogan - "Stand with McCain or Fall with Obama!" Oh, incidentally, are Democrats ever REALLY happy?
News1950,
You want to see happy Democrats? Wait until November.
Hmmm,John F., I CAN wait forever if necessary! LOL
Democrats are their worst own enemy.
If they would have nominated a popular southern moderate governor then it would have been a quarantee that they would have crushed John McCain. The coat tails of that nominee would have been tremendous and Democrats would probably have an excellent shot at wiping out the Republicans accross the board.
Instead, they have nominated again a very liberal candidate with tons of baggage. McCain will have a decent chance of squeaking out a win. There is a possibility that Obama will have an anti-coat tail effect, especially in the Southern states.
Normally, the Democratic nominee is 10 to 15 points ahead the month before the conventions. Obama is hanging on to a 4 point lead which is in the margin of error.
Instead of a easy grand slam, the Democrats are on a verge of just getting a double. It still we be a good year for them. They will pick up seats everywhere but definitely as much as they could have.
As a Republican, I say thank you. Thank you very much.
Also on a side note, if the Democrats would have nominated Mrs. Clinton then she would have easily defeated McCain.
