Letter to the Editor:
America falling fast from world stage
Sat, Jul 5, 2008 (2:03 a.m.)
America’s problems began with several bad decisions.
One was to open up the country to foreign manufacturers with a low tariff. Another was to send our factories to foreign countries. We now have no manufacturing base.
In the 1950s America had affordable automobiles and a strong manufacturing base, making TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, radios, etc.
Another thing is that we have done nothing to counter Europe’s alliance, the European Union. Maybe we could have countered with a North American alliance with Canada and Mexico.
America will become a second-rate country as a result of these situations and the oil debacle.
The rich may stay rich, but the rest of us will soon drop down to peon status.

America (will) HAS become a 2nd rate country
Certainly, we are struggling a bit. Obama is offering nothing to help in that regard. In fact, he says he like high gas prices.
I doubt that we are 2nd rate.
The USA is number 1 in GDP at 13.8 trillion. That is 3x's bigger than the 2nd place Japan. The GDP is bigger than the next 4 countries combined.
Our federal budget is bigger than Russia's entire GDP. Our defense spending is half of Russia's GDP.
There is no other country that even comes close to the US military. USA has 12 active divisions. British only have 5 active divisions. Germany only has 3 active divisions. USA Navy has 11 aircraft carriers, 14 ballistic submarines, 4 guided missile submarines and 52 attack submarines. The British only have 4 ballastic submarines, 9 attack submarines and 3 mini-carriers.
Nance, why don't you enlighten us all with a direct quote from Obama where he says he likes high gas prices.
Here Obama says about higher gas prices, "I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment"...so he wishes upon on the hard workers higher gas prices. He just does not want a big jump but a constant steady increase in price.
He is your leader not mine.

LOL, you really make me laugh some times, Nance.
Only you could hear "I like high gas prices" from Obama's response to that question.
Your mind is a comic goldmine. You are absolutely nuts. What else do the voices tell you?
Just because the USA has a huge huge arsenal of weapons does not make it the Nr 1 nation. You perhaps have the power to dominate over smaller nations, perhaps??, still you lack in morals.
