  • Tell Us About Yourself in 100 Words or Fewer: I am a foster child. I was put into foster care when I was 5 years old. I was the fifth child out of six — it was too much for my mom. I want to prove to the people who doubted me wrong. You can't tell me what I can't be. It's my motivation. I've lived a pretty rugged lifestyle, but that's life.

I'm the co-captain of my tennis team and the president of the Invisible People and Indo-Pak clubs. I like talking with people and having my views change. My dad's a doctor. I just like helping people. I'm really interested in medical research to develop cures. Becoming a part of Doctors Without Borders is one of my dreams.

People need to realize that there's a lot more to life. I enjoy the simple things: rain, nature in general. I do what I do. I give to others and try to give back.

My father used to be in military and is retired now and is an ROTC instructor at Las Vegas High School. I lived in Korea for a year or two. Living abroad broadens horizons and opens minds about the world.

  • Best Part About Living in Las Vegas: Opportunity to go out and have entertainment like concerts, movies and malls. I used to live in Pahrump. There's a lot of variety here.
  • Worst Part About Living in Las Vegas: The people who don't know how to drive or think about others. Though, the students here seem genuine.
  • Where You Plan on Going to College: College of Southern Nevada then to Oregon or Washington State for graduate school. I like the way of life there.
  • Tell Us About Yourself in 100 Words or Fewer: I'm a musician. I play everything. My word is initiative; I get things done. I'm determined and not to brag, but people tell me I'm intelligent. I'm openminded with a strong stance on certain issues.

  • Current Nevada Issue That Most Concerns You: Yucca Mountain, because it's insane that it'll take 50 years to move nuclear waste from east to west, and by that time, we'll have cleaner technology to dispose of it. It's risky to transfer all this nuclear waste. It's all sorts of stupid.
  • Current World Issue That Most Concerns You: The cholera outbreak in Haiti. I wouldn't want to be a Haitian right now.
  • Future Plans: I want to travel the country and get hands-on knowledge of who makes the country what it is.

  • How Long Have you Been in Las Vegas: Six years
  • Best Part About Living in Las Vegas: How diverse the people are here. Tourists, people from all over the world come here. You get people from all walks of life.
  • Worst Part About Living in Las Vegas: If you're not 21, there's nothing to do. It's kind of boring.
  • Where You Plan on Going to College: Still looking, but considering Humboldt College.
  • Tell Us About Yourself in 100 Words or Fewer: I transferred from Las Vegas (High) to Durango. I was surprised I was nominated for this. I'm not a very motivated student, but I love learning. Music is super important to me. It's my life.

  • How Do You Want to be Remembered at Your High School Reunion: The kid who couldn't do anything, but became more successful than them. Success is not being wealthy, but being truly happy. Only you can judge that.

  • Worst Part About Living in Las Vegas: California drivers. They annoy me.
  • Where You Plan on Going to College: University of Kansas for undergrad and Northwestern University for graduate school

I know a lot about very random things, and I'm really all over the place and different than most students in a way. I want to become an English professor because it's one of the few subjects that takes all different approaches. It's subjective. Each person's view of an essay is different.
