If you were laying on your back with someone on top of you...banging your head into cement, what would you do?

Budget cuts........
Here are the suggested people cuts in the article-
"The largest number of job cuts would come from six main areas: five from Fire Prevention; seven from Public Works; 11 from the County Commission/County Manager's Office; 12 from the Assessor's Office; 13 from Real Property Management; and 14 from Juvenile Justice."

I believe this is lame.....from corporate experience these numbers are too low. Decision makers here are afraid to cut jobs due to employee union lobbying. It is my opinion Fire Department should be cut by at least 50 and police by at least 30. Use this same percentage in the other departments- after 90 days no one will notice.

An additional budget savings ripe to grab is in corrections. First, deport all illegal aliens in the jails and prisons; second take all prisoners to deserted islands without guards, separate the islands by violent and non violent, male and female. Provide no supplies let prisoners live off the land. Pick them up when their sentence is over. No visitors, no parole. Only security is the ocean and safeguards to prevent boats or aircraft from picking them up. This provides enormous savings.

Next, stop police activity of drug enforcement except to protect children. If adults wish to ruin their lives it is their business. We spend too much money and have NEVER scratched the surface of drug money or use. Let them manage themselves. No rehab either. Also, no murder or robbery investigation if the victim is found to have used drugs. simply ignore them except for protecting children.

Now you save money and eliminate police officers, courts are not overloaded, jails mostly empty.

Finally, change school system to focus on children who want to go to school and learn. The bullies, people with attitude, truants are not pampered simply tell them they are reassigned to study hall which is an empty gym without supervision. Make those who attend clean up the place daily before they leave. If students do not show do nothing. Leave the classrooms and money for those who want to learn. Should a former dropout want to go to school let them after they prove desire to be respectful, no attitude, friendly and dedicated to an education. Stop wasting money on the many who will not work, co-operate or show desire to learn. History shows forcing them does not work.
