These comments make me hope the posters here don't represent the majority of the voters in this country. How sad to vote based on rumors and innuendos you hear on a playground. Does anyone really study the issues anymore and vote based on the candidate's stand on those issues? Can you admit that both men are human and have failings but that you believe more in one's ability to run the country? Do you have to lower yourself to name calling?
I'm not sure the analogy works because I don't contract with any companies to feed my child but I do contract with the Dept of Education to educate my child.
But I was onboard until you said my job is to convince the legislators to throw more money at the problem. What we really need to do is hold parents responsible for seeing that their children go to school, behave at school, do the homework and study. I will lay odds that if you have a child failing, they don't have parents who read with them and help with homework. Instead of money, parents need to invest some time.
Did anyone ever propose cutting part of the COLA? If the 4% increase was going to cost 132 million, cutting 1% would have given back 33 million. That could have saved a lot of jobs.
The governor is arrogant. But Gibbons isn't the only one to blame. Remember the 370 million our legislature rebated to everyone in 2005? If they'd invested that money with even a modest return we be in much better shape to cover this shortfall today.

Patricia,
Who gets to decide on 'authentic' faith? Or 'authentic' family. In this country, supposed land of the free, no one should be imposing their particular brand of faith or family. You want to pray, do it. You want to keep birth control away from your childen, do it. But stop trying to legislate values.
