Maybe all you that want to keep the building going should come up with the money to redo it and make it so that they can use it.
UNLV is short on money, it is more cost effective to take it down and build a new building.
Put your money where your mouth is.
Until most people stop asking the government to keep paying for things taxes are not going to go down.
The money has to come from someplace. To many want the government to be the saving grace of all problems and that costs money.
You can not cut the spending until the public is willing to take responsibility for their own problems.
Following California is not the right way to go. Look at the problems they are having now and all the people leaving California, coming here and trying to make Nevada the same as what they left behind.
I foresee this project being in the news in the future.
It will not be able to be built for the $67 Million that they are planning now.
They will be asking the City for more money to complete the project.
When and If it is ever finished the rents will be higher then projected to cover the costs and it will no longer be affordable to seniors as stated now.
The Casino industry already pays about 50% of all the taxes in the State of Nevada. Just how much is their fair share so that you can live off their work and earnings and not pay anything?
When was the last time you put up Billions of Dollars to do something for this State?
That is the good thing about the United States, you can always find an attorney willing to sue big companies at the expense of everyone else in the United States.
The only one that is going to come out ahead in this deal is going to be the attorney.
Has to make you wonder why Stations Casinos is taking applications at all. Why are they not just calling back some of the people they have "laid off" in the last year. Oh ya, cheaper to hire people with no experience then pay people that gave them good service for many years.
If they cut out all the Illegals going to Clark County Schools then I am willing to bet there would be no further cuts at all.
Simple way to solve the problem.
Why should anyone have to pay SALES TAX on something they are giving away.
Most look at this just being a casino issue but it applies to every business if you follow the letter of the law. You give something away, the state wants you to pay sales tax on it.
There should not be a sales tax on free items no matter what the business is. Business gives employees free food and the state requires them to pay sales tax. I guess if they stopped giving the food away they can save on sales tax. Who has this helped?
The law should be that a business posts on their front door if they allow smoking or not.
If you don't want to be around smoke, you don't enter that business. The business owner should have the right to make the rules for his business.
The non smoker should have the right to make their choice by not going in the business if they don't want to.
Why do people have to make this harder then it has to be?

At one point in time the Unions where needed in this country but things have changed.
Look at the Major Casino Companies that are not union. They are paying as well if not better then the Union houses and the benefits are as good if not better. Difference being is that the employee is not having to pay for fat cats to eat at high end restaurants and stay in four star hotels.
The unions have shown their true colors when they finished using this women. They used her up and left her on the streets.
Unions are nothing more then legal protection rackets that make the guys at the top rich off the backs of the working man.
