Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria Parker
For Eva Longoria Parker and gal pal Kim Kardashian, New Year’s Eve was celebrated 24 hours earlier all for the benefit of TV cameras and Kim’s crazed holiday travel schedule. The glamour girls recorded a New Year’s Eve toast from Eva’s Eve nightclub that opened last night ahead of tonight’s gala premiere for Carmen Electra’s Fox special being broadcast live tonight from Mandalay Bay Beach.
The day-before taping also allowed Kim to jet off to New Orleans this morning to spend New Year’s Eve with boyfriend Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints.
“All I can say, Robin, is that I’m not getting married in 2009, so we’ll have to hope it happens in 2010,” she laughed. “We’ll be staying home for a very quiet personal and romantic New Year’s, and I can watch our Vegas festivities while I’m in New Orleans!”
Kim, who’d flown in from a Cancun, Mexico, photo shoot for the preopening, talked with me about her New Year’s resolutions. Kim, who speaks highly of the QuickTrim diet plan peddled by her sister Khloe, told me: “I have absolutely made up my mind to stop my bad habit of overeating, but more importantly, I have decided to ensure that I spend more quality time with my family. Too often, I let work demands take priority, so I’m definitely cutting down on being torn in every direction so that I get more time with those dearest to me.”
Eva chimed in that her resolution is to spend more love time with San Antonio Spurs star husband Tony Parker, who will be alongside Eva tonight on the red carpet as 2009 ends and 2010 begins, and promised that at midnight, she’ll give me her real resolutions for the new decade.
“Normally, we’re home for a nice dinner and his basketball game,” Eva said. “This year, I wanted to be in Las Vegas for our grand opening.”
Kim hosted the pre-New Year’s Eve party last night at Eve above Beso in Crystals at CityCenter. Her close pal Brittny Gastineau joined her, and the two darlings walked the red carpet while enjoying Kim’s signature couture pops from Sugar Factory at The Mirage. Our loyal Vegas DeLuxe reader Richard Corey filmed these videos that he posted on YouTube.
The two dined together at Eva’s restaurant Beso, an extension of her celebrated Hollywood hangout situated beneath Eve alongside the park leading to Aria. After dinner, Kim and Brittny went upstairs to the nightclub to welcome partygoers, host the early New Year’s TV toast, drink Dom Perignon and dance at their private booth. They took cell phone pics of each other laughing and mugging.
After the cameras had wrapped, it turned into a night of early Strip star arrivals celebrating the holiday weekend. Will.I.Am and Apl.De.Ap of The Black Eyed Peas, Wilmer Valderrama, Miss America Pageant host Mario Lopez, who also will join Eva and Tony on the red carpet tonight, and UFC star Tito Ortiz joined them for dancing, champagne and Eva’s signature sangria. Tonight, even more of Eva’s friends are expected for her midnight countdown and champagne toast at Beso and Eve.
Meantime, Eva and Kim’s toast and the tour of the nightclub party will be edited into Fox’s Billboard New Year’s Eve Live special tonight, with Carmen Electra hosting from Mandalay Bay Beach.
“We’re going to have a really good time and show exactly what the crazy Vegas celebrations are all about,” said burlesque beauty Carmen, who guest starred twice this year in MGM’s Crazy Horse Paris and plans to be back again in 2010. She plans to join Eva at Eve after the East Coast broadcast is over.
Expect to see revelers swimming in the water there because officials have already cranked up the heat to 90 degrees as temperatures dip to the 30s tonight. Even Carmen says she’ll be tempted to put on a bikini and dive in herself! A stage has been built for tonight’s show with American Idol Season 8 winner Kris Allen, finalist Allison Iraheta and music sensation Sean Kingston. It will create the illusion for television that the stars are “performing on water.”
The TV special, which will be seen on Fox across the country, will cut away for the ball drop in Times Square. It will broadcast live from here from 8 to 9:30 p.m. to allow for the three-hour time difference on the East Coast and will be tape delayed for airing here starting at 11 p.m. on Fox 5 Las Vegas.
Our contributing photographers Tom Donoghue will be at Mandalay Bay for the telecast, and Erik Kabik will join me at the nightclub with Eva and her “thousand friends.” We plan to post our coverage tomorrow right here at Vegas DeLuxe.
We’re now ready for an extraordinary party night as we say goodbye to one decade and greet the new one!
