Man indicted on child porn charges terminated by Clark County

A man indicted for downloading child porn while working for Clark County is now officially unemployed.

A federal grand jury on Nov. 30 indicted Erik Muller, 40, on counts of advertising child pornography, transporting child pornography, receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

County officials began the process of terminating Muller’s employment as soon as they were notified of the investigation by law enforcement, said Erik Pappa, the county’s director of public communications.

Since Muller was a union employee, the termination process takes some time and wasn’t complete until Thursday, Pappa said.

Investigators said they found pornography on Muller’s computer at home and on a laptop at the Clark County Government Center.

Muller, 40, worked for the county for nearly 10 years and was the spokesman for the county’s Nuclear Waste Division, Pappa said.

He remains in federal custody pending his trial, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 7, officials said. The federal public defender’s office is acting as his counsel.
