Pop princess and “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez is setting out on a new world tour this summer, and the 20 dates in North America include a stop here at Mandalay Bay on Aug. 18. Superstar and heartthrob Enrique Iglesias and Puerto Rican reggae duo Wisin y Yandel join her on the tour.
The U.S.-Canada leg starts July 14 in Montreal, and J.Lo -- with Chris Brown and T-Pain -- is featured on Wisin Y Yandel’s new album “Lideres” being released in tandem with the tour. Our friends at AEG Concerts are promoting the tour, which follows on the heels of dates in South America.
J.Lo has a 2-month break after the current season of “A.I.” wraps for rehearsals for the Latin American shows. She says that she’s taking her 4-year-old twins Max and Emme on the tour bus with her. Enrique and J.Lo say they’ll sing solo and as a duo on the tour.
LFL PLAYERS HIT MEXICO: The all-star gridiron glamour girls of the Las Vegas-based Lingerie Football League head south to play their 2012 Fantasy Game in Mexico City on Saturday, and our Las Vegas Sin quarterback Nikki Johnson has made the team; she even made the cover of the official game-day program.
The Fantasy Game with Nikki also will be played in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, in June and then Asia in August. These LFL All-Star Fantasy Games seem to be the only pro bowls now that the NFL Pro Bowl has been canceled.
PAGEANT VOTES: For the second consecutive year, Miss USA Pageant fans get to vote one of the contestants into the semifinals when it is airs from Planet Hollywood on June 3. Owner Donald Trump decreed that the pre-pageant fan vote begins today and will run through June 2. The winner will be announced on the telecast. You can see the contestants and vote at MissUSA.com and NBC.com. Gorgeous TopShop ambassador and former XS and Tryst cocktail server Jade Kelsall is our Miss Nevada USA.
THREE NEW CASINO UPGRADES: Traffic on the Strip was shut down briefly this morning when the seven-story parking garage at O’Sheas was imploded hours after its doors were closed. The demolition makes room for the $550 million, 200,000-square-foot entertainment, retail and dining corridor the Linq set to open next year.
It also will upgrade three neighboring Caesars Entertainment properties: Harrah’s, Imperial Palace and the Flamingo. O’Sheas will reopen inside Linq as a renovated attraction, and the focal point of the entertainment district will be a giant observation wheel -- the High Roller -- the tallest in the world at 550 feet and with 28 cabins designed as transparent spheres to hold as many as 40 people soaring over the skyline.
BIG APPLE DEBUT: Our Imperial Palace headliners Human Nature are winning raves across the Midwest and East Coast for their Motown show, but now comes the biggest test to date: Best wishes for their Sunday debut in New York City’s Beacon Theater! The boys tell me that since their appearance two weeks ago on “Dancing With the Stars” with their mentor Smokey Robinson, demand for their tour has “exploded wide open.”
SUNSET TONIC: “Sin City can keep you up all night long, and so do my Las Vegas Showtime tablets,” laughed adult-film siren Sunset Thomas as she announced her newest venture -- a male sex enhancement pill. Sunset, our hometown porn princess, added: “Our website LasVegasShowtime.com will allow people to ultimately win a date -- a flight to Las Vegas, a hotel with me included, dinner and, well, let’s just say a real Vegas experience! … There’s nothing wrong with putting a little fuel into the engine to ensure a wonderful romp!”
Actress Amy Adams, who is set to play Lois Lane in the Superman in 2013, relaxed with girlfriends at Tao Beach in the Venetian, then had dinner at nearby Lavo in the Palazzo to wrap her visit. The ladies also hit Lavo’s boutique nightclub, where DJ Vice was spinning. Actor Tyrese Gibson followed his talk at CinemaCon with a manicure at celebrity stylist Lori Lee Samson’s new intimate salon at Qua Spa at Caesars Palace. Tyrese was so happy with the results that he left singing an impression of Vin Diesel singing “My Way.”
DJ Cedric Gervais spins at Lavo. Kelly Monteith, Marc Price and Dana Eagle headline at Harrah’s Improv through Sunday. Bushwalla has a two-night run at Book & Stage in the Cosmopolitan. And don’t forget that it’s opening night at the Broadway theater in New York-New York for “Spirit of the Dance” with Dublin’s Irish Tenors. Break a leg!
Guitar great Carlos Santana starts a 2-year residency at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay; McDonald’s launches its new Metro concept on the Strip at the Miracle Mile with a red-carpet star party and a pop group, so this isn’t your regular burger and fries; plus, Miss America Laura Kaeppeler gives us the rundown of her first 4 months.
