Cirque du Soleil
Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 | 6 p.m.
The new Cirque du Soleil spectacle “Zarkana” has its Las Vegas premiere tonight, and there’s a star-studded lineup attending the surreal acrobatic spectacular. Our overview of the amazing spectacular was posted Oct. 30.
Expected on the red carpet at Aria in MGM’s CityCenter: Kate Beckinsale, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Lowndes, Dot Jones, Aaron Paul, Matt Lanter, Edi Gathegi, Criss Angel, Siegfried & Roy, Matt Goss and Carrot Top.
The cast of 70 performers will jump, tumble and spin on the red carpet along with the creative team, including writer and director Francois Girard. CityCenter honchos and MGM executives also will attend. “Viva Elvis” has left the building, but Zark is now safely at home continuing his nightly search through an abandoned theater to restore his former powers.
More than 1.2 million people in New York, Madrid and Moscow have seen “Zarkana,” and it’s been hailed as Cirque’s loudest, wildest and most incredible acrobatic sensation to date.
Also in town: There’s great music with everybody from Steve Winwood to Judy Collins and Sergio Mendes. There’s comedy with Lewis Black and John Pinette. There’s partying with everybody from Tiesto to Common and Estelle. And there’s a cavalcade of legendary TV stars at the Hollywood Autograph Show at LVH.
I just want to take a moment to remember that Veterans Day is Sunday, and we should never forget the tremendous acts of heroism that our veterans and active-duty military have endured with their commitment and sacrifice for our freedom.
If you smell more cigar smoke in the air this weekend, you aren’t imagining it. It’s the three-day 17th Annual Cigar Aficionado Big Smoke at the Mirage marking the magazine’s 20th anniversary. On Thursday night, I helped Carlito Fuente celebrate his family’s 100 years in the business at his Casa Fuente in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
