No sooner do the pop music stars of the IHeartRadio Music Festival scamper out of town than the metal rocker heavy hitters land on the Strip for another two-day music festival. It’s Rock Vegas with 15 acts over 48 hours, including Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Staind, Papa Roach, Buckcherry and hometown heroes Adelita’s Way.
Rock Fest is too big for one venue, so the music explodes at Mandalay Bay and into festival grounds opposite the Luxor. The rockers promise to be as wild and crazy as the 50,000 fans expected to scream for the mosh pits and head banging.
“It’s an incredible lineup for any rock fan, and the stages and sound systems will be massive. It's the biggest spectacle in the country,” said Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin. It’s also the loudest festival here!
Mr. Olympia will flex his muscles as the hard bodies pose over three days of the annual bodybuilding event that never ceases to amaze. First-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath defends his title against Dexter Johnson, Kai Greene, Branch Warren and Las Vegas’ Dennis Wolf. (Four-time champion Jay Cutler of Las Vegas isn’t competing this year.) Seven-time and current Mrs. Olympia Iris Kyle, Fitness Olympia Adela Garcia, Figure Olympia Nicole Wilkins and Bikini Olympia Nicole Nagrani all return to defend their titles.
Vroom! The motorcycle guys and gals have their Bike Fest all weekend with grand marshal Corey Harrison from “Pawn Stars,” and skating fans have the Stanley Cup champions L.A. Kings and the Colorado Avalanche in an NHL battle.
Comedians Bill Cosby, Tim Allen, Daniel Tosh and Sinbad go head-to-head for the spotlight on humor. Out at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the contest will be among the drivers taking part in two races: the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the Global Rally Cross Championships. Among the stars: Travis Pastrana, our hometown speedster Brendan Gaughan (grandson of Las Vegas casino owner Jackie Gaughan) and two-time champion Todd Bodine. Their vehicles can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2 seconds and then fly through the air at 100 mph!

It’s not often I have a note in our weekly Weekend Celebrity Preview that might be of interest to President Obama, but I feel duty bound to advise him and his Secret Service agents that if he’s in need of a break while staying at Lake Las Vergas prepping for his presidential debates against Mitt Romney, they should attend the free outdoor Jazz on the Lake concert tonight with David Perrico’s eight-piece Pop Evolution band with singer Naomi Mauro.
Now it’s my turn to be presidential and issue the weekly Friday executive order to enjoy yet another insanely packed weekend in Sin City that guarantees everybody’s vote of approval for the Royal Robin Rundown:
