Move over, Elvis: Another Las Vegas music icon is getting his own fan fest in town. The inaugural Elton Expo 2013 will take place Oct. 4-6 at Tuscany Suites featuring three days of panel discussions, presentations, music performances and more celebrating the work of Sir Elton John.
The event, which coincides with the return of the music legend’s resident show, “The Million Dollar Piano,” at Caesars Palace, is organized by the independent Elton John fan magazine East End Lights.
Additional activities at the expo include a silent auction benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a performance by Canadian Elton John tribute band Elton Rohn and a Q & A session with Sir Elton’s lead guitarist Davey Johnstone, drummer Nigel Olsson and percussionist John Mahon.
“I enjoy meeting the fans of Elton John and the band because they give me a different perspective on the show,” Mahon said in a statement. “Fans from countries outside the U.S. have way different musical tastes, and Elton songs that are popular in America are not necessarily hits in other parts of the world.
“I’m always surprised to hear what song is a favorite of one of Elton’s fans.”
Registration for Elton Expo is $160 per person and does not include hotel reservations. For more information, visit EastEndLightsMagazine.com.
