All 51 contestants in Sunday’s Miss USA pageant will walk the stage at Planet Hollywood tonight, competing in swimsuit and evening gown categories. It will be the first time they are all seen together in their pageant wardrobes since their arrival here almost two weeks ago.
They have been rehearsing at Planet Hollywood and its theater since the weekend. Seven judges this evening will determine the 15 semi-finalists, to be announced after the parade of introductions at the start of the telecast. One other contestant will win a semifinals spot from fan votes cast at www.missusa.com.
Tonight’s judges include People magazine news director Kristin Boehm; my longtime friend Kristin Prouty, the entertainment relations executive at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and Fred Nelson, executive producer of the People's Choice Awards. Other judges are Lynne Diamante, founder of sponsor OPTX Rhode Island glasses; Miss Universe lawyer Andrea Calvaruso; Nick Light, vice president of artist development at RCA records and Rob Goldstone, founder of Oui2 PR.

Pageant owner, "Celebrity Apprentice" host and real estate tycoon Donald Trump is set to fly in on Saturday for final rehearsals. He’ll walk the red carpet Sunday with a cavalcade of stars, his celebrity judges and show hosts Giuliana Rancic from E! Entertainment and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, who will be entertain along with DJ Pauly D.
For the past 72 hours, the girls have been in nonstop rehearsals for their routines, finalizing their wardrobe fittings and working with Las Vegas sunless tanning expert Kamela Brewer, founder of mobile Bold Body Bronzing, one of this year’s pageant sponsors.
Behind the scenes there’s also a herd of hairdressers and a multitude of makeup artists transforming the girls into pageant princesses. Breaks for polishing nails, shining lipstick, checking greetings cards from well-wishers and quenching thirsts have been few and far between.
Nana Meriwether, who will relinquish her crown and title on Sunday, co-hosts with Vegas DJ Chet Buchanan tonight. “Kamela has given me a nice glow for tonight’s preliminary show," she said. "My gown by Sherri Hill fashions is amazing -- a dream dress.”
