(Traffic and heat) warning: There could be big tie-ups at the Tropicana Avenue on- and off-ramps on I-15 at 2 a.m. Saturday when convoys of 40 trucks with sound equipment, scenery and sets meet up to cause a traffic jam.
As soon as Justin Bieber steps offstage at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday night, his road crew has just hours to tear down his sets, pack up and leave town because Beyonce’s road crew will be waiting to move in early Saturday. They’ll have just hours to erect her set for Saturday night’s sold-out show. The jam of trucks coming and going behind MGM Grand takes place as two of the biggest top-selling music stars pass in the night.
Beyonce and her critically acclaimed, red-booted, royal fashion Mrs. Carter Tour pulls in from Friday’s L.A. show before returning there Monday. Biebs and his nonstop, 100-plus global Believe Tour moves on to Denver for a Sunday show. They’re just two of the superstar attractions this weekend, which after last weekend’s DJ invasion for the Electric Daisy Carnival, is music to my ears. The biggest highlight of all might be the world premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s new “Michael Jackson One” at Mandalay Bay. All their equipment thankfully has been in place for the past six weeks of previews.
Hometown hero Ne-Yo thankfully is a one-man concert set-up at Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and NFL legend Terry Bradshaw’s six-piece band and four dancers are ready for his Mirage debut.
With temperatures oh-so-close to a scorching 120 degrees, be safe, drink plenty of water and cool off at our pool parties. The 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue models return here from the February launch of the annual edition as promised for the “Summer of Swim.” Chrissy Teigen, who just gave the nod on Wednesday night’s “Model Employee” on VH1 to Sonja Ewy as the $100,000 Face of Mandalay Bay winner, is with Nina Agdal, Alyssa Miller and Kate Bock at Encore Beach Club, Andrea’s and Surrender.
Julie Henderson will be at Tao Beach in The Venetian on Saturday. Not enough skin? The Hard Rock Hotel starts its summer-long bikini talent search at Rehab.
It’s time for us to cool down and make a splash with the Royal Robin Rundown, which hopefully won’t heat up the temperatures more, but be forewarned that this is a sizzling star-studded weekend!
