Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes kicked off the return of Ditch Weekend in style at Palms Pool at the Palms on Friday afternoon. The Grammy-nominated rapper — in a black Hermes tank top and jeans and black Louis Vuitton aviator sunglasses — talked about the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Robert Guerrero fight at MGM Grand on the arrivals carpet.
“I want Floyd to win the fight, and I want it to go a full 12 rounds,” Busta said (he got his wish). “I want to see Floyd fight [Manny] Pacquiao before he retires. Keep winning so we can eventually have that moment.” Thousands of Cinco de Mayo and fight weekend partygoers sang along as Busta performed “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See,” “Look at Me Now,” “Pass the Courvoisier” and “Twerk It.”
Before heading to his VIP booth, where he was joined by Glen Davis of the Orlando Magic and former Minnesota Timberwolves star Rashad McCants, Busta took to the mic to say, “Every Ditch Friday pop off needs to be an annual Busta Rhymes event.”
Method Man and Redman at Ditch
Method Man and Redman continued the Ditch Weekend party Saturday. Both men were dressed in caps, T-shirts and shorts, and they arrived with an entourage of 15 family members and friends. Their set included “Da Rockwilder” and “Blackout,” and partying in cabanas: boxer Victor Ortiz, Devin Ebanks (Los Angeles Lakers), Michael Bush (Chicago Bears), Red Cafe and The Weekend.
Diddy’s Fight Night
Sean “Diddy” Combs hosted a fight-night after-party at the Palms Pool on Saturday night. Diddy arrived on the red carpet in a long-sleeve T-shirt, black jeans and a gold chain before making his way hand-in-hand with girlfriend Cassie Ventura to a cabana on second-story deck.
The couple sipped on — what else? — Ciroc Coconut and Ciroc Peach cocktails before Diddy made his way center stage for a mini-set. The three-time Grammy winner performed with fellow artists and friends Red Cafe, Fabolous, Trey Songz, Jeremih, Too Short and Meek Mill, to whom Diddy wished a “Happy Birthday” to over the mic.
After the performance, the group returned to Diddy’s VIP area, where Method Man and Redman joined them. Also at Palms Pool: The Weekend, Criss Angel, Evander Holyfield, Terrence J, Roger Mayweather, 40 Glocc and Porsha Stewart of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
Before Diddy’s party, Fabolous, Trey Songz, Jeremih and Red Cafe dined at nearby N9NE Steakhouse in a group of 20. Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari dined at nearby Nove Italiano, where Cutler happily posed for a photograph with a group of high school students at dinner en route to prom.
