It was another extraordinary four-day-weekend megastar DJ lineup at the newly opened Hakkasan Las Vegas at MGM Grand. The crowds keep growing, and the five-story palace of pleasure was filled to capacity every night of The Big Fight weekend of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero.
Additionally, it was the official opening of Hakkasan’s restaurant with its Cantonese menu of taste treats. My dining adventure will be posted Wednesday in our Counter Intelligence column. To say it was extraordinary and unique would still be an understatement.
Meantime, DJ Tiesto had events at Hakkasan and a stint behind the wheels of steel mid-afternoon at nearby Wet Republic, which also was at capacity over the weekend.
Here’s the Royal Robin Rundown:
The weekend kicked off with Dutch DJ and producer R3hab as he debuted the first set of his exclusive series. Before his show, Angel Management Group Neil Moffitt presented him with a framed gold disc to celebrate his premiere at Hakkasan, just as Neil has done with all of his resident star DJs at Hakkasan.
Tiesto worked out the wheels of steel the second night, then Grammy Award-winning Calvin Harris returned to the club after his first night debut dining with singer-songwriter Rita Ora. The celebrity list for Tiesto’s first night: Hilary Duff + Mike Comrie, Haylie Duff, Adrian Grenier and Aziz Ansari.
A DJ set by Fergie with gorgeous dancers dressed in elaborate costumes and choreographed acts warmed up the sold-out crowd for Calvin, who kept the party going until 5 a.m.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris was at a VIP table, while simultaneously in Hakkasan’s Ling Ling Club, DJ Ross One spun music for partygoers.
It was almost back-to-back for Calvin, who closed out the weekend with a show-stopping set Sunday at Wet Republic that ran into the early hours of the evening. Tiesto closed out the Hakkasan weekend with a return set that lasted until past 4 a.m. Monday. His opener was 18-year-old Spanish phenom Danny Avila.
Plans are already in place for Hakkasan’s Memorial Day Weekend extravaganza, and discussions about Labor Day and Halloween DJ events are under way. Can New Year’s be that close?!
