She’s baaack! Eccentric mega-pop star Lady Gaga returns for Round 2 of her “Art Rave: The ArtPop Ball Tour” at MGM Grand Garden Arena. And so is Playboy cover-girl beauty Crystal Hefner spinning at Rehab in the Hard Rock Hotel.
It’s a big weekend of music stars, and Las Vegas is jumping with much to do, even though Celine Dion has had to cancel five shows due to doctors treating her for throat inflammation. Celine promises to return next Friday to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace after the medical scare is over.
Please note that tonight’s Dierks Bentley concert at Britney Spears’ Axis at Planet Hollywood also has been canceled.
It’s music mayhem because in addition to Gaga’s second time in town in two weeks, there’s Daughtry, Goo Goo Dolls and The Plain White T’s at Red Rock Resort; Journey and The Steve Miller Band at Mandalay Bay; Aerosmith at MGM Grand; Weezer at the Cosmopolitan; and Buckcherry at the Hard Rock Hotel.
“Star Trek” fans will be beaming over appearances by four of the SS Enterprise captains: William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks and Kate Mulgrew, with 100 members of the Star Trek family at The Official Star Trek Convention at the Rio through Sunday.
Beloved Las Vegas husband-and-wife duo Clint Holmes and Kelly Clinton Holmes have separate gigs this weekend, with Clint’s three duet shows at Cabaret Jazz in the Smith Center as Kelly hosts the Lipshtick shows at the Venetian.
Hocus pocus — magic is in the air! Rio headliner magicians Penn & Teller premiered their new weekly TV series “Fool Us” on the CW on Wednesday, and “Masters of Illusion” featuring a merry mob of magicians from Las Vegas premieres tonight on the CW.
Watch for Nathan Burton, Murray Sawchuck with “Fantasy” at the Luxor dancer wife Chloe Crawford, Jan Rouven, Jarrett & Raja and Pendragon on the series host by Dean Cain. Tropicana magician Murray was on “Access Hollywood” with host Billy Bush to promote the new series.
Las Vegas locals and visitors are now gearing up for the onslaught of Labor Day Weekend. It’s difficult to believe that Halloween is just around the corner, and we’ll soon start counting down the shopping days to Christmas. The summer is speeding by — where does the time go?
