For two summer months, pop princess Britney Spears has been away from the Strip, but she was back Friday night at Axis Powered by Monster at Planet Hollywood for her fourth set of shows over two years — and again it was another sellout crowd of fans.
As she’d promised, there were new costumes and dance routines, and she changed up the song set to include new material mixed in with her big hits. Everybody, though, was talking about her new slimmed-down, trimmed-down, taut-and-toned body for the “Work Bitch” star.
Even Brit tweeted her excitement over the new opening number’s micro-mesh spandex body suit and her “Baby One More Time” outfit and choreography.
Said Britney: “Love the new opening outfit. This weekend was so fun. Incredible night getting to do what I love. Feels great to be back. So much energy in the theater.”
Miss USA Nia Sanchez of Nevada and Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf were there Friday night and met up with the pop star before the show. Actor Alex Pettyfer (“Magic Mike,” “I Am Number Four”) was in the audience Saturday night.
‘AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR’: Amazing displays of strength and courage against what might look impossible will be on display tonight on NBC with the first of the Las Vegas-filmed episodes of “American Ninja Warrior” — the Season 6 finals of the impossibly difficult obstacle course race.
A re-created Mount Midoriyama was set up on the MGM Lot opposite the Luxor for the 75 finalists from previous episodes in Dallas, Denver, Miami, St. Louis and Venice Beach, Calif. Three weeks of brutal competition ends with a USA vs. the World three-hour special on Sept. 15.
MAGIC-AL FASHIONS: It’s fashion Las Vegas style with the start of the huge bi-annual MAGIC convention that attracts thousands of manufacturers, designers, fashion journalists and store buyers from across America and around the world. It coincides with Fashion Week Las Vegas, an independent entity founded in 2012 giving emerging designers a platform to show their creations.
Four nights of runway shows with more than 30 designers will take place at the Soundstage Studio Court next to the Palms. A group of 50 finalists made up of new young talent will strut their stuff on the runway, and the winners, one male one female, will each win a two-year contract with Envy Models. During MAGIC, Fizz at Caesars Palace will feature a decadent $130 flight of champagne, while Rockhouse at the Venetian will take 15 percent off each conventioneer’s bill.
For something completely opposite in fashion — a case of wearing as little as possible, in fact — the 2014 Gentlemen’s Club Expo and Tradeshow opens at Mandalay Bay with the latest in pasties, panties and (stripper) poles.
FIRST FOUR-STAR AWARD: Congratulations to Flamingo headliner Olivia Newton-John, who will join three Las Vegas businesswomen being honored today by Easter Seals Nevada with the first-ever Four-Star Award at the 2nd Annual Women’s Tea Party in the Four Seasons Las Vegas ballroom.

TV TIME: Author and former Libertarian Vice President nominee Wayne Root wound up getting more exposure for his economic views than any speech from any Nevada Republican aired nationally. Wayne gave a 90-minute address on “How to Save the U.S. Economy” to the Financial Policy Council in Manhattan, and the C-SPAN camera crew not only filmed it in its entirety but also broadcast it full length over the weekend and this morning.
NEW RESTAURANT: Made L.V., the latest restaurant from Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla, officially opened its doors at Tivoli Village today. She describes it as a “modern American tavern” for “good food, good drinks and good company.” Chef Kim’s comfort-food favorites combine with Elizabeth’s healthy twists for a unique menu selection.
Dishes include Butcher’s Style Chicken Wings, Lentil and Chickpea Hummus, Pulled BBQ Pork sandwich and the Tivoli Market Salad that consists of Tuscan kale, Upland Cress hearts of palms, breakfast radish, avocado, dried cherries, puffed rice and complemented by a chai seed dressing. The bar has a diverse beer list, and the 216-seat establishment gives patrons the opportunity to enjoy these menu items and beverages in a setting complete with retro arcade games, a curated playlist and multiple TV screens.
WELL-BEING: The world’s first wellness meetings experience opened this morning at MGM Grand with Dr. Deepak Chopra at the ribbon cutting and reception. Twelve new meeting and board rooms with wellness programming to optimize the health of busy executives have been added in the expansion of the hotel’s acclaimed Stay Well hotel room program.
