Parade of Lights Golden
You wouldn’t know it from the weather, but there’s a little bit of Las Vegas in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
The song “Golden” by some-time Las Vegans Parade of Lights was recently selected by NBC as the theme song for this year’s Winter Olympics, and its synth-laden hooks can be heard during promos for the games.
Though the band relocated to Los Angeles in 2012, drums and piano for “Golden” were recorded locally at Vegas View Recording at the International Academy of Design and Technology Las Vegas.
The thumping anthem, which was featured on Fox’s “American Idol” last month, was selected by NBC after being submitted for consideration by the band’s label, Astralwerks Records, with whom the group signed last fall.
Several tracks on their forthcoming EP, also titled “Golden,” also were recorded at IADT’s studio. The record is due out this spring.
Parade of Lights recently wrapped up a string of shows opening for fellow ex-locals turned Grammy Award winners Imagine Dragons and will headline an upcoming show at Vinyl in the Hard Rock Hotel on Feb. 20.
