Comedy juggler headliner Jeff Civillico celebrates his second-anniversary show at the Quad this Saturday, and he’ll unveil two pieces. The first involves strapping a GoPro camera to his head, which projects his perspective to the audience in real time on the screen behind him.
It’s the debut of “Juggle-Vision.” The second involves the use of Skype, the details of which will remain secret until show time, but you have to be in your seat 15 minutes before it starts.
Congratulations to Jeff on his anniversary on the Strip!
FASHION DESIGN: Former “Simple Life” reality TV star Nicole Richie, founder and creative director of House of Harlow 1960 and mentor on NBC’s “Fashion Star,” will deliver “The Big Interview” Keynote Address during the 34th annual Licensing Expo 2014 at Mandalay Bay on June 17.
Nicole will share insights into her journey developing the fashion brand and the evolution of her licensing program.
POLICE OFFICERS FUND: Celebrity photographer Denise Truscello, who shoots all the Las Vegas film and music stars, is helping raise money for the Police Officers Fund supporting the families of the two slain officers horrifically gunned down during lunch Sunday by self-proclaimed white supremacists who then killed themselves in a North Las Vegas shopping mall.
Denise will do a one-setup shoot in her studio for $250 and donate the entire fee to the police fund. You can get all the details on her Facebook page or at Twitter @DeniseTruscello.
HIDDEN PRIZES: An anonymous gift-giving project is sweeping Las Vegas inspired by the Hidden Cash man in L.A. who helped people in need by depositing hidden envelopes of cash there. You can view the Twitter account for the Las Vegas giveaway at @HiddenPrizesLV.
The generous anonymous donor told me: “I’m aware that many people searching for cash don’t necessarily need the money, but they are doing it for the fun of the hunt. I wanted to come up with a similar idea but change it a bit. I don’t want it to only be about money. I created the idea of Hidden Prizes simply placing envelopes around the Las Vegas Valley and allowing people to search for it by clues given out via social media.
“In the envelope, the person will find a note that tells them where to pick up the prize close to where they found the envelope. It’s all in good fun, and we give away some cool prizes. We will ask the winner on the envelope to tweet us at @HiddenPrizesLV a picture of them holding up the actual prize.
“I want to stay anonymous. I am not doing this for press or notoriety. I want the idea of paying it forward to be just that and not focus on who I am, but the idea of what’s happening and hopefully it inspires others to want to be kind and pay it forward themselves. Hidden Prizes will start once the Twitter account gets 200 followers. The anonymous project will last as long as the people allow it to.
“When the person finds the prize and claims it, I encourage them to give the prize to someone that may need it if they don’t. … I would like items to be donated by the community, so if you have a way to get the word out to people that I am looking for donations of cool prizes to give away, that would be much appreciated. They can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let’s have some fun!”
BAJA 500: It was an incredible weekend of daredevil off-road racing for the Baja 500 in Mexico, and our Las Vegas heroes Bryce Menzies and B.J. Baldwin did well, placing 1st and 4th, respectively.
The top five unofficial winners were Bryce, 8:50:19; Jason Voss, 8:55:16; 3. Jesse Jones, 8:57:20; B.J., 9:03:16; and Kyle Jergenson, 9:04:21. Here’s part of the grueling beating the drivers and their vehicles took through part of the dangerous track.
