Even though the Strip is overrun with 90 of the world’s best celebrity chefs and master sommeliers celebrating the eighth-annual Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appetit food and wine festival, there are other entertainment offerings on the menu.
Today, Nobu Matsuhisa demonstrates the art of sushi rolling, Michael Mina hosts a pig roast, Thomas Keller leads a luncheon and “Cake Boss” superstar Buddy Valastro shares dessert secrets in an exclusive bakery class. Then all the star chefs join to throw their Grand Tasting at Garden of the Gods pool at Caesars Palace. To say it’s the most spectacular grouping of culinary kings and queens on Earth is an understatement.
On and close to the Strip, there’s country music by LeAnn Rimes at Orleans Showroom —my candid conversation with her was posted Thursday afternoon — and rock from Jane’s Addiction at Brooklyn Bowl in the Linq.
Music legend Meat Loaf is back with his run in “Rocktellz & Cocktails” at Planet Hollywood. Downstairs in the Axis at Planet Hollywood, Britney Spears is still selling out shows with “Britney: Piece of Me.” And Rod Stewart is kicking ass — and soccer balls — at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace.
For laughter and wonderfully fun storytelling, Lily Tomlin returns to the Smith Center. Will we ever forget Ernestine the sniggering telephone operator from “Laugh-In”? And sitcom comedy kings Ray Romano and Kevin James are at the Mirage.
A shout-out to our lineup of eight Cirque du Soleil shows and resident musicals “Jersey Boys,” Human Nature, “Million Dollar Quartet” and “Rock of Ages” who toil week in and week out.
Earth, Wind & Fire is in Primm, Season 10 “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery is performing at Mountain’s Edge, and the legendary, smooth-as-silk Patti Austin is at Aliante. (Confession: My all-time favorite is “How Do You Keep the Music Playing” that she sang with James Ingram at our Keep Memory Alive benefit a year ago here for Quincy Jones and Sir Michael Caine’s 80th birthdays.

Transport yourself to the opulent and excessive Roman Empire at Caesars Palace. But the ever-changing Caesars Palace is far from ancient. The hotel and casino is constantly raising the bar for what visitors can expect in a Vegas resort experience.
Caesars Palace features 3,348 rooms and suites in five towers, including the new luxury boutique Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, which opened Feb. 4, 2013, in the totally remodeled Centurian Tower. Caesars features 129,000 square feet of gaming space, including the Strip’s largest poker room and a 250-seat sports book. Other amenities include about two dozen restaurants, a four-level shopping mall, four pools, a spa, Pure and Poetry nightclubs and Pussycat Dolls.
Dining options include restaurants from world-renown chefs Guy Savoy, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay and, on Feb. 4, 2013, Nobu Matsuhisa.
You never know what characters you’ll run into at Caesars with regular performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Elton John and maybe even the emperor himself.
