From Gay Pride to professional pole dancing to a Tony Award-winning musical, this weekend's eclectic offerings in The Entertainment Capital of the World give Las Vegas plenty to celebrate.

Here’s a look at our weekend best bets:

    • Thursday - Sunday: Las Vegas Gay Pride 2014

Las Vegas Gay Pride hits town for a 31st year this weekend beginning with a string of parties Thursday and kicking into high gear with its annual Night Parade Downtown celebrating the city’s LGBTQ community and its friends and allies. For a complete list of the weekend’s don’t-miss events, including a party hosted by Out Magazine at Liaison in Bally's on Saturday night, check out our guide to Las Vegas Pride.

    • The Tony Award-winning “Kinky Boots” is at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts from Sept. 4-14, 2014, in downtown Las Vegas.

Thursday - Sunday: "Kinky Boots" at the Smith Center

Tony Award-sweeping musical "Kinky Boots" kicks off its U.S. tour in Las Vegas this weekend for a run at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts through Sept. 14. The Broadway smash is written by Harvey Fierstein, scored by Cyndi Lauper and directed by former "Peepshow" at Planet Hollywood creator Jerry Mitchell (check out Robin Leach's and John Katsilometes' interviews with all three) — what’s not to like? Tickets are $39 to $139. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. daily with 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday.

    • Avalon Landing plays Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Pool on September 4.

Thursday: Avalon Landing and Ekoh at the Cosmopolitan

Head to the Boulevard Pool tonight for an evening of local love as Las Vegas acts Avalon Landing and Ekoh take the stage to dish out tunes like their recent collaboration “Paint.” Local singer Yaygos opens. The show is $5 and starts at 8 p.m.

    • Artist Sara Becker performs during the amateur Championship Level 3 Senior competition at the 2013 U.S. National Pole Championships at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas Friday night, August 9, 2013.

Thursday - Sunday: Pole Expo at the Palms

This ain’t your mama’s pole dancing competition: The annual Pole Expo showcases three days of jaw-dropping athleticism and artistry as top performers go head-to-head at Pearl at the Palms to strut their stuff. The event also raises funds to support the fight against breast cancer and benefit at-risk youths. Tickets are $49. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

    • Saturday - Sunday: Great Las Vegas Gridiron Grill-Off BBQ and tailgate festival at Las Vegas Events Center

You might want to fast in preparation for this delectable Kansas City Barbecue Society-sponsored event, which returns to downtown Las Vegas for a fifth year with master grilling demonstrations, music and, of course, loads of tasty barbecue. Entry is $20. The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. daily.
