The 10th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil’s “The Beatles Love” at the Mirage is to be celebrated this July, and Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison have been juggling their schedules to ensure that they are all able to travel to the Las Vegas Strip for the milestone gala events.
I can now confirm that they’ve firmed up everything, and the 10th anniversary of “Love” is officially set for Thursday, July 14. Unfortunately, I’ll be away on my annual jaunt to Italy, but we’ll have full coverage — reports and photo galleries.
“Love” recently underwent an incredible two-year transformation with updated technological advances and video-mapping improvements, as I reported here on its second night this month.
At the “One Night for One Drop” benefit performance Friday at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Cirque President Daniel Lamarre told me that the final 20 percent of the makeover — the biggest surprise part that he wouldn’t even begin to describe for me — will be in place shortly before the 10th anniversary celebrations so that Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Olivia will be among the first to see it.
