Three new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the Resorts World Las Vegas construction site, according to a news release.

The latest cases, which bring to total to seven, were confirmed in a release today from a public relations firm representing casino owner Genting Group.

The virus had already prompted changes at the site, including a reduction in tower work to comply with government social distancing guidelines.

Workers in close contact with those who tested positive have been directed to self-isolate for two weeks.

Certain areas at the Las Vegas Strip job site have been temporarily closed or sanitized, officials said.

All workers are being monitored for coronavirus symptoms at the start of each shift, officials said.

W.A. Richardson Builders is the lead contractor on the $4 billion-plus project. Resorts World is still scheduled to open in the summer of 2021.

Last month, Madison Square Garden Co. suspended construction on its MSG Sphere project near the Strip because of the pandemic.

Health officials today reported 127 new coronavirus cases in Nevada, putting the total number of positive cases to more than 4,200, with 189 associated deaths.
