Palo Verde basketball tops Arbor View in OT, moves into first place

Jason Condron’s basket with 17 seconds remaining provided the game-winning points Tuesday for the visiting Palo Verde basketball team in a 72-68 win against Arbor View.

Arbor View missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, ending the second back-and-forth game between the schools this season. Arbor View won the first meeting by four points.

“The game had a playoff atmosphere,” Palo Verde coach Pat Condron said.

Senior Connor Peterson led the way with a game-high 30 points and Kade Madsen scored 16. Madsen, a senior, leads the Panthers with 14.2 points per game.

“We are playing good team basketball,” coach Condron said.

Palo Verde improves to 17-5 on the season, and 6-1 in the Northwest League. It’s tied with Arbor View, a state semifinalist last season, for first place in the league.

“But we have five more conference games to go,” Condron said. “Nobody is going to lay down for us.”

UNLV commit Donovan Yap had 25 points for Arbor View.
