Why are we seeing so many people not wearing face masks or social distancing? I keep hearing them say it is their right to not wear a mask. I guess it is also their right to get the virus and infect their siblings, mother, father, grandparents and friends.
They consent to wearing a seat belt when they drive even though it probably will never help them stay safe unless they are in an accident. However, when a virus can kill their relatives, they say it is their right not to wear a mask to protect others.
So just as President Donald Trump seems to think, people’s lives do not matter, even those of family members. Trump holds political rallies and does not want people to wear masks or practice social distancing. What he is saying is that he does not care that a percentage of those attending might get the coronavirus, and a percentage of them might die. They are only collateral damage.
People, wake up and let us get rid of this way of thinking. Unlike the seat belt rule, wearing a mask and social distancing will only be with us for a short time, so suck it up and do your part to protect those you care about, as well as people you don’t know.
