LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

President is out of place in office

In response to the May 24 letter, “Confusion is not presidential,” I would add that neither are ignorance, incompetence, cruelty or corruption, to name a few of our inglorious president’s traits.

But for the time being, let’s stick to several statements Donald Trump has ignorantly stated:

1. In a Fourth of July speech in 2019, Trump claimed that during the Revolutionary War, our Continental Army retook our airports from the British. This is amazing, given that planes and airports were not around in the 1770s.

2. In that same speech, he added that our national anthem was written during the Revolutionary War. Nope. “The Star-Spangled Banner” was written during the War of 1812.

3. Trump on May 1, 2017, and repeated the next day, said President Andrew Jackson could have prevented the Civil War ... even though Jackson had died 16 years before the war began.

And by the way, whose finger is on the “red button” today?
