Henderson Police: 1 killed, 2 critically injured in weekend crash

Henderson Police are blaming speeding for a crash Sunday in which one person was killed and two were critically injured.

The collision happened about 4:50 p.m. at Eastern Avenue and Wigwam Parkway, police said.

A car was headed north on Eastern at a “high rate of speed” when an SUV turned left into its path, police said.

“Speed is considered to be the primary cause of the collision,” police said in a statement.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died, police said. A passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old woman, was also taken to Sunrise in critical condition, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the man killed after his family is notified, police said.

Northbound Eastern was closed for about four hours while traffic officers investigated, police said.
