Pedestrian hit by SUV near Allegiant Stadium

A pedestrian is in critical condition after they were struck this afternoon by a SUV about a half-mile from Allegiant Stadium, police said.

Metro Police Lt. Miguel Ibarra said officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck near the intersection of Valley View Boulevard and Russell Road, which is about a half-mile from the stadium.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital in critical condition and the driver of the SUV fled on foot, Ibarra said.

The area is shut down and will remain closed for several hours, Ibarra said. Alternative travel routes are advised.

It’s unclear if the incident was related to the Las Vegas Raiders-Seattle Seahawks preseason game at the stadium, Ibarra said.. It’s the Raiders’ game with fans, and more than 60,000 were expected.
