Suspect sought in Elko shooting considered armed, dangerous

ELKO — Police are looking for a 30-year-old Elko man they believe shot two people at a trailer park on the city’s south side and may still be armed.

Elko police identified Austin William Himmelman as the suspect in Thursday’s shooting.

“Himmelman should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said in a statement.

Officers found one male victim in front of a mobile home, and one female inside a trailer when they were called to the park at 10:17 a.m. Thursday.

Both victims were transported to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko, according to the Elko Daily Free Press.

The man later was flown to a Utah hospital where he is in intensive care. The woman underwent surgery for a bullet wound and is recovering.

Himmelman is described as a white male adult, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should call Elko police at 775-777-7300.
