The COVID-19 vaccination megasite at Cashman Center in downtown Las Vegas will be closed this weekend, while available vaccine is used to support other clinics in the valley, health officials said today.
The site will be closed starting Friday and will reopen sometime next week. All appointments through today have been booked, officials said.
“All available vaccine is being used and people eligible to receive the vaccine are being served throughout the weekend at additional locations,” the Southern Nevada Health District said in a statement.
The Cashman site opened Jan. 14 as a pilot program to test the community’s first mass vaccination effort. The site is offering vaccinations to people in priority groups, including those 70 and older, and health care and public safety workers.
As of Monday, there have been 60,632 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Clark County, and the Health District has received 83,200 doses. The first vaccines were distributed Dec. 14.
Appointments for next week at Cashman will be available soon via the vaccine distribution page on the Health District’s website.
“We are off to a great start making COVID-19 vaccinations available in our community, and we will continue to refine our processes so it’s as efficient as possible,” Clark County Commission Chairwoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick said in a statement.
Health officials are urging people who book an appointment to make sure they show up and to not make appointments at more than one site.
