While I certainly appreciate the June 16 letter “Many fell for Trump’s lies,” it ends with the sentences, “Don’t feel bad. We were all fooled. But let’s not be fooled any longer.”
I beg to differ. We were not all fooled. Many of us, particularly New Yorkers, knew who Donald Trump was — an egotistical bully who built his real estate fortune by filing multiple bankruptcies to avoid paying workers and contractors.
Many younger people knew Trump only as the tough-talking, entertaining host of “The Apprentice.” This is why we as a nation were so divided about who he was and what he could do for this country.
Those who followed his real estate career and flip-flopping political views knew from the beginning that he was spectacularly unqualified to be president, and he just kept on proving us right. I am gratified that many who were fooled are intelligent enough to revise their opinion based on his stupefying incompetence.
